1. Who we are
Uniquest Africa (“Uniquest”, “we”) is the Data Controller for the personal data described in this notice. Our application for registration with Ghana’s Data Protection Commission under the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) is currently in progress; our registration number will be published here once issued.
For privacy questions, write to support@uniquestafrica.com.
2. Data we collect from mentors
We collect only the information needed to vet you, publish your profile, run your sessions, and pay you.
- Application details: name, email, phone, LinkedIn URL, current role, company, years of experience, industry, undergraduate and highest qualifications, bio, availability, primary and additional mentorship areas.
- Profile media: profile photo and optional introduction video.
- Account credentials: managed via Firebase Authentication. We never see or store your password.
- Payout details: your mobile-money number, held with our payment partner (Paystack) for disbursement of earnings.
- Session activity: sessions you create, attendance you mark, feedback we receive about you.
- Bookings made for your sessions: each booking shows the student’s name, email, and phone, plus the session details.
- Technical data: device, browser, IP-derived region, and pages you visit while signed in. Production-only analytics (Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity) record this.
3. What is public vs. private
On your live mentor profile we publish:
- Your name, current role, company, and years of experience.
- A summary of your education (institution, field of study, degree type) for both your undergraduate and your highest qualification.
- Your bio, profile photo, and optional intro video.
- The mentorship areas you selected.
We do not publish your phone number, email, payout details, full LinkedIn URL, application form, or any internal review notes.
4. How we use student data you see
When students book your sessions, you see their name, email, and phone. You may use this information only to:
- Deliver the session they paid for.
- Send session-related reminders or follow-up resources.
- Address questions arising from that specific session.
You may not use it for marketing, share it with anyone outside Uniquest Africa, or transfer it to other platforms. Anything a student shares with you during a session is confidential unless they agree otherwise.
5. Service providers
We rely on a small set of providers to operate the mentor dashboard. They each receive only the data they need.
- Firebase / Google Cloud— authentication, profile photo and intro-video storage.
- Paystack— processes student payments and your payouts.
- Hubtel— sends booking confirmations and session reminders by SMS.
- Render— hosts our backend and database.
- Vercel— hosts our websites and dashboards.
- Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity— aggregate usage analytics, loaded only on production.
Some of these providers process data outside Ghana (mainly the United States and the European Union). We rely on the contractual safeguards published by those providers and on the “adequate level of protection” recognised under section 47 of Act 843.
6. How long we keep your data
- Active mentor accounts: while you remain an approved mentor.
- Rejected or revoked applications: we keep a minimum record (name, email, decision, reason) for audit purposes. Other application data can be deleted on request.
- Payment records: retained for the period required by Ghanaian financial-record law.
- Session and booking history: retained while needed to satisfy our legal, tax, and accounting obligations.
7. Your rights under Act 843
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct anything that is inaccurate or out of date.
- Request deletion, subject to legal and accounting retention rules.
- Withdraw consent for analytics or optional features.
- Object to processing you believe is unfair or excessive.
- Lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission of Ghana.
To exercise any of these rights, email support@uniquestafrica.com. We respond within 30 days.
8. Security
For details on how we protect your account and what to do if you suspect a problem, see our Security page.
9. Your consent as a mentor
By submitting your mentor application and signing in to the dashboard, you confirm that:
- You have read and understood this notice.
- The information you provide is accurate and that the photo, video, and education claims are yours to share.
- You consent to the publication of the public-profile fields listed in section 3.
- You will treat student data you receive in line with section 4.
You can withdraw consent at any time by closing your account or by emailing support@uniquestafrica.com. Withdrawal will not affect sessions already delivered or payments already processed.
10. Changes
We will update this notice when our practices change. The “Last updated” date above reflects the most recent revision; material changes will be communicated by email or in-app notice.
